Hair extensions

What are they?

  • Hair extensions are real or artificial hair that can be attached to your natural hair for more length, volume, and style. There are many different types, where some may be a bit more temporary and can be removed after every use, such as clip-ins. On the other hand, there are more “semi-permanent” extensions which they are attached to your hair for several weeks/months at a time before they need to be removed and reapplied.

Are extensions 100% real human hair?

  • Hair extensions can be made from real human hair, or can be synthetic.

  • Most stylists recommend/use human hair because of its durability, and a much more natural look.

  • Human hair can be colored, styled, and have a much more seamless blend with your natural hair.

  • Human hair is more expensive and can last a much longer time. (Over several uses)

What types of extension methods are there?

  • There are so many types, as well as install methods! There’s :

  • Keratin Extensions (thermal application)

  • Weft Extensions (a sew-in application)

  • I-tip Extensions (beaded application)

  • Tape In Extensions (glue/tape on extension)

  • Clip-in Extensions (easily applied with clips)

…and so much more!

Can I get Extensions?

  • Anyone is the perfect candidate for extensions.

Whether someone wants length, volume, or even a pop of color, stylists can create the look you are wanting!

A consultation set up with your stylist is the perfect way to begin your journey! This will be able to get the perfect color match needed, as well as discuss your goals with the extensions, (hair growth, volume, etc)

No matter the amount of hair, color, type, or even lifestyle you have, your stylist can figure out which type of extension is best suited for you and your hair!

How do I take care of my extensions?

  • Aftercare at home is a huge part for when it comes to keeping your extensions healthy, as well as being able to reuse them! Aftercare also is so important because we still need to take care of our own hair!

As said before, extensions are a huge but amazing investment, so, therefore, we recommend you invest in products and the care recommended by your stylist.

DO

Only wash your scalp with shampoo, and let the rest trickle through your extensions when rinsing.

  • Buy silk pillowcases to sleep on

  • Blow dry your hair or sleep with dry extensions

  • Sleep in loose tension-free styles like braids!

  • Take your time gently brushing your extensions from bottom to top (sometimes serval times a day)

  • Always fully blow dry your extensions, avoid leaving them damp

  • Avoid excessive heat, and use a protectant!

  • Book those move-up appointments every 4-6 weeks for a refresh! Remember, extensions grow with your natural hair!

  • Take breaks, this will allow your scalp to “breathe”, especially if you’ve damaged your hair

  • Gently brush the root of your hair

  • Wash or dry your hair after sweating

  • Use a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner

DON’T

  • Sleep with your extensions wet! This will damage them and also tangle them.

  • Use purple shampoo, your extensions are much more porous and will suck in the color more

  • Swim in chlorinated or salted waters, this will dry up, damage, and ruin your hair extensions

  • Wash your hair regularly, try to wash every 4-6 days

  • Over-condition the base of your extensions

  • Overuse hair spray

  • Let your hair stay dirty or oily

  • Go a day without brushing your extensions

  • Use harsh chemicals

  • Use Saunas

  • Pull on hair

  • Apply sunscreen, it can turn your extensions orange
